After 42 years of rule in Libya by dictator Muammar Gaddafi, the rule has ended in his death. In August, Libya Rebels overtook his compound leaving Gaddafi's and his loyalists to flee. On October 20th he was cornered by insurgents in the town of Sirte, where Gaddafi had been born. It was there that he was found hiding in a drainage pipe holding a golden pistol when he was caught by the rebels and killed.Gaddafi was accused of backing several acts of terrorism including the '86 bombing of a Berlin disco popular with American soldiers, the hijacking of a cruise ship Achille Lauro in '85, and the '88 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which resulted in the U.N. & United States imposing sanctions on Libya.
