Virginia Department of Transportation spends $5 million on highway signs.

The Virginia Department of Transportation advised that VA's overhead highway message boards will soon provide motorists with more information than just lane closure. After spending almost $5 million in high-tech upgrades the signs will generate more accurate travel times for drivers. These new signs are said to provide travel times from one location to another and this will be done by VDOT installing radar detectors along the side of the roadway to collect average speeds. They also advised that eventually all the 250 signs in the area will get the high-tech upgrade. Read Full Article
