The anticipated Des Moines Register Iowa Poll is in, and they are showing that Herman Cain and Mitt Romney are leading the field of Republican candidates. Cain received 23% of the votes, and Romney received 22%, while Ron Paul came in third with 12%. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who previously shared the lead with Romney in June now only received 8% of the votes. Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich each receive 7% and Rick Santorum came in last with only 5%. The Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll is the country’s longest continuously running newspaper poll and they have inquired to Iowans about their caucus preferences since the 1980s.
